At an awards dinner on Nov. 5 in Washington, D.C., the National Law Journal named two Reese Marketos attorneys – Josh Russ and Pete Marketos – as the honorees of the Winning Litigators – Plaintiffs category of The National Law Journal 2025 Legal Awards.
Marketos and Russ won the award for their outstanding results for plaintiffs and whistleblowers in three of the firm’s largest recent cases: a $150 million False Claims Act jury verdict against a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary that grew to a $1.64 billion judgment; a $100 million eve-of-trial settlement with PharMerica in another False Claims Act case; and a $52 million bench trial win for a midstream company in a contract dispute with Energy Transfer.
These landmark trial victories redefine what’s possible for plaintiff-side litigators in high-stakes False Claims Act and complex commercial litigation and exemplify Reese Marketos’s expertise deploying nimble, laser-focused trial teams against highly resourced defendants.
RM teamed up with Berger Montague in the two False Claims Act cases and was retained in the midstream case just four months before a December 2024 trial.
“The firm is honored to be recognized with this award, which would not have been possible without contributions from the entire Reese Marketos trial bench,” said Josh Russ.
Other RM lawyers who played significant roles in these cases include Joel Reese, Adam Sanderson, Andrew Wirmani, Brett Rosenthal, and Whitney Wendel.
